2001 F150 Lightning - Modifications

The Lightning is pretty much stock, for now. The only modifications made to date are a Lighted Ford Logo on the front grill, and a K&N Filter installed in a slightly modified stock airbox. To date, my best 0-60 using the G-Tech PRO is 5.41, and is consistently in the 5.4 - 5.6 range. My previous best stock was 5.50. Keep in mind, the recent runs have been in the heat of summer, on the street. The Lightning definitely benefits from cooler temperatures, and lower humidity.

For every modification that I make, I will include my thoughts, and how to's, where applicable.

Now that I have completed this "stage" of modifications, I will be taking the truck back to the dyno, to see what (if any) improvements have been realized as a result of the changes that have been made. I'd optimistically hoping for 10 - 15HP gained, but wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was only 0 - 5.

I also have a 2lb. lower pulley, that I have yet to install, as well. But that won't be installed until after my trip to the dyno, so that I can accurately gauge what increases the modifications are worth.

2001 F150 Lightning - Dyno Charts

I plan to use the Dyno, as much as possible to track the improvements made to the truck. Below is my first trip to DynoPower, in Toronto (I have left their contact information on the scan, and highly recommend them). Bone stock (with a 1/2 hour cooldown before beginning), the truck pulled a max of 355HP and 426TQ. The second run was immediately after, to measure the power lost due to heat. The numbers dropped to 344HP and 417TQ, as a result. After a brief cooldown (with fan) the K&N filter was installed in the otherwise completely stock truck. Numbers went up, to 360HP and 430TQ.
